Hello ICS Community,
I would like to take this time to introduce to you our new Assistant Principal of Climate and Culture, Ms. Renee Boylan Free (or as we will call her AP Rene). AP Renee comes to ICS with over 12 years of elementary classroom experience. Since 2002, Renee has taught in the School District of Philadelphia at Stephen Girard School and now serves as the school’s Instructional Reform Facilitator and Dean. Her work provides instructional support to classroom teachers, as well as working closely with students, parents, and teachers to create a positive school climate and culture.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh and her Masters’ of Education in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from Chatham College also in Pittsburgh. Finally, she completed her Educational Administration Certification from Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania.
She has received multiple certificates of appreciation and recognition for providing district-wide professional development to both teachers and Principals in areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. In addition, she received a Letter of Commendation for her work as an Instructional Reform Facilitator for developing teachers, improving instructional practices and increasing student achievement in her school. Finally, she received special recognition from the Superintendent of Schools for making a difference in the lives of children and contributing to school improvement.
Renee has been a resident of South-West Center City area for 12 years. Welcome AP Renee to Independence Charter School!
