There is NO SCHOOL for ICS students this coming Monday, October 10.
Picture days are tomorrow (grades K-4) and Friday (grades 5-8). Students may dress up or down (only on their picture day), and all students will have their picture taken. Please refer to my previous emails or to the website for instructions, please consider placing orders online (school code – JL456045Q0) to make life soooo very easy, and please contact Susan Burrows with any questions or issues: firstname.lastname@example.org. Sibling, make-up, and retake picture day will be November 15 and Susan will send you a reminder when that time comes.
Please remember to return the blue Family & Student Compact page that was sent home with students last week. Each family only needs to return one compact because all ICS children in the family can sign the same sheet. If none of your children brought the blue sheet home last week or you need another copy, we have them in the front office or I am happy to send another home if you reply to this email and let me know the child’s full name and advisory teacher. It’s also available on p. 50 (last page) of the Handbook.
Many ways to support ICS – choose your favorite!
World Holidays calendar ad or shout-out – Every year ICS publishes a beautiful calendar full of student artwork. It makes a great holiday gift! Now is your chance to publish your own business ad or commemorative message in the calendar. Order form is here, and all ad/tribute orders must be received by Friday, October 14.
Violins at ICS – Tr. Craig has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for violins for an ICS instrumental program. Check it out here and support if you love seeing more music in schools!
Pretzel Funds – The PTA has launched a PledgeCents campaign to fund pretzel purchases so that more money from pretzel sales each week can go straight to classrooms! Support here!
Clothes Swap, October 22 – save the date! – The ICS semiannual Clothing and Book Swap is back! On Saturday, October 22 from 10am-1pm you can bring your gently used women’s and children’s clothing and books to ICS and for a suggested donation of $20 take home as much “new to you stuff” as you can carry or fit in your car. All funds raised will benefit the ICS Musical Theater program. All remaining items at the end of the day will be sent to Circle Thrift. This event is open to the public–please invite your friends and neighbors!
PhilaSoup is a grassroots organization that supports teacher projects in Philadelphia. ICS teachers have been frequent recipients of their micro-grants and long-time supporters of the organization! Learn more about them and their fall event here!
Give Kids Sight Day – There will be a free eye care for children day on October 29 at Jefferson Alumni Hall. Complete details, flyers in many languages, and even an option to sign up for a reminder can all be found here!
Van service – Rieaya Cargo City is a private student transportation service currently available to offer transportation to ICS families. Contact the owner to learn more: Christina Edwards – 215-251-1009. (As with all private transportation and aftercare options, this information is provided for ICS families’ convenience and is not an endorsement.)
Lost & Found
The lost & found pile is growing, and all unclaimed items will be donated this Friday. Remind your children to retrieve all lost items from the 1st floor hallway table by the Naudain stairwell this week, or email Tr. Adriane at email@example.com and she will help your child reunite with the missing item! Remember to always label everything clearly with children’s first and last names. This will help prevent a lot of lost jackets and sweaters for you this year.
