The PTA warmly invites the ICS community to their November meeting:
Thoughtful Inclusivity: Expanding our perspective. Our language. Our action.
- An exploration in inclusivity and perspective in language and action – How our experiences color our thinking and our truths. How we can expand to consider others in our thinking and living. Useful tools when talking to children and our families. ICS cultural expectations and family/community expectations.
- Brief exploration on trauma-informed teaching and learning. What is useful for parents/family communities to know.
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow ICS families in new and meaningful ways.
We are really looking forward to the event and hope you will join us!
Teacher Barb sent home cookbook order forms this week with students. They make great holiday gifts or can be added to your own cookbook collection! If you’d like to place an order, make sure you return your order form next week. I will send one more reminder next week and include an electronic version of the order form in case yours didn’t make it home in your student’s folder. Cookbook sales support the 5th grade camping trip.
Picture Day Revisit
Tuesday morning, November 15th is Picture retake, make-up and sibling day at ICS.
TIPS: Be sure and have your child bring in his or her previous picture package if he/she is getting a retake. All the picture information that the photographer needs is on that old picture form.
If your children are getting a sibling picture taken, please fill out the paper order forms from the front office (it’s the same form as the individual pictures).
Students may dress up or down for their make-up, retake or sibling photo.
If you haven’t yet, be sure to complete this signup form if your child needs pictures taken on Tuesday. This helps us organize the students in a calm way that morning.
And last but not least, if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Susan. Helping hands are particularly useful on this hectic morning.
ICS got out the vote!
On election day our middle schoolers helped get out the vote in Philadelphia throughout the day. They were caught on film by MSNBC, NBC10, ABC6, Telemundo and the BBC. In addition, they were cheered on and thanked by many Philadelphians who appreciated their contributions to democracy. See a clip of their important work!
