Weekly News, 2/12 (Weekend Edition)

The weekly news is arriving on the weekend this week, due to that snow day on Thursday.

Menu change: Also due to the snow day, Thursday’s vegetarian meal of ravioli w/ marinara sauce will be served on Tuesday this week (replacing the rotisserie chicken).

Remember that next Monday, 2/20* there is no school in observance of President’s Day. *If you have a 2017 World Holidays calendar on your fridge, please ignore the incorrect date on it!

Keep an eye out next week for our 2017 Summer Camp resource list! That’s right, now is the ideal  time to start planning and signing up for summer camps in order to get the best early-bird deals. You can take a look at last year’s list now. I’ll get it updated for 2017 over the next two weeks, but many of last year’s links will still take you where you need to go in the meantime.

Nurse Simone could use donations of new packs of kid underwear in sizes 5 & 6 (for when our kiddos have accidents*) and some cartons of sanitizing wipes. Thank you! *If you are a K or 1st grade parent, you can help us by keeping your child’s spare clothes ziplock stocked with clean clothes in case of accidents!

PTA Meeting – Wednesday, February 15 – High School Info Night

Thanks to your continued support, we have reached 87% of our Green Schools goal! Keep on earning & sending those RecycleBank points our way!

Now through February 16 – Online Auction for Take Flight!

You won’t believe the great items and services up for auction online from fellow parents and friends of ICS.

Place your own bids and share widely with family and friends who love a good deal for a good cause!

Check out the items now and don’t miss out! The auction only runs through this Thursday at 8pm.

Saturday, February 25 – Get-Ready-for-Spring Clothing & Book Swap

  • Saturday, February 25, 2017
  • 10am – 1pm
  • $20 suggested donation for all you can shop gently used books and women’s/children’s clothes!

Clean out those books and clothes you’ve grown out of and bring them to ICS on Saturday, February 25. Then, for a small donation, take home as many “new to you” books and clothes as you’d like!

If you just want to drop off clothes or books, we welcome your donations on Friday, 2/24 between 4-6pm or on Saturday during the swap. Please make sure that clothes are clean and that everything is in reasonably good condition (no stains, rips, etc.).

It’s also fine to come shop even if you don’t bring any clothes/books.

The parking lot will be open for parking and, if it’s not too cold or wet, kids can enjoy the playground with direct parent supervision.

All money raised will go to Take Flight. Leftover clothing will be sent to Schoola to keep earning money for ICS! Leftover books will be sent to local thrift shops.

Silent Auction Planning

Calling all restaurant families, home cooks, and food lovers!

ICS’s 2017 annual silent auction is fast approaching, and we are looking for a few kind folks to help organize, coordinate, pick-up, chop, prepare, and cook food for the event! Think Top Chef (not Hell’s Kitchen). If you are interested in helping out, please contact Naomi Mendelsohn.

We are also looking for food (and service) donations from local restaurants and businesses —  so if you have connections in the restaurant/hospitality biz (and you are willing to share that info) please contact Naomi as well.

Thank you!
