Weekly News, 3/1

The Board Meeting scheduled for March 8 has been cancelled. It is tentatively rescheduled for March 15.

If you know that your children are not returning to ICS next year (for any reason other than graduating from 8th grade!), please email Tr. Jenny to let us know. This helps us immensely as we plan for enrollment next year. Thank you!

March is here, and with it, National Nutrition Month at ICS! This year’s theme is Put Your Best Fork Forward. Our Food Services Committee students will be coming into classrooms with information, worksheets, games, stickers, and bookmarks to encourage our children to make healthy choices as we put our best fork forward! We will also be learning how Meatless Mondays are a healthy and sustainable way to care for our bodies and our planet.

Thanks to Lintons, there will be raffle prizes this month! If your child eats breakfast at ICS every day during the week of March 6-10, they will be entered into a raffle drawing for a new bike (grand prize) or scooter (2nd prize). Additionally, any student who eats any school meal in March might be selected at random for a special breakfast with Chef Gabe (cooked fresh by Gabe!) for themselves and a friend.

As a parent, you can celebrate March National Nutrition Month at home by helping your child to have nutritious breakfast choices at home or at school and continue eating good growing food that will keep the brain and body healthy all through the day!

Yours in healthy & tasty food,

Maestra Neyza, Food Services Coordinator

Cheesecake Sale – Now through March 10, you can submit cheesecake orders to support the 5th grade camping trip! You will be able to pick up your order at report card conferences on March 24.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Green Schools project on RecycleBank–our project is 100% funded! If you still have points to donate, please head over to the donation page and spread the Philly LOVE by giving them to another Philly school whose project is not yet fully funded.

ICS’s Immigrant Resource page is up on the website. Please keep sending us any resources we missed, and please feel free to share this with your networks.

Daniel and his fellow Take Flight travelers depart next month for a week of service and global exchange.

We’re still fundraising — Can you help us reach our goal? Gracias!
