Hello 8th grade families,
Below, you can find important graduation details!
Next Wednesday, May 31st, graduation tickets will be sent home with students. Each family will receive 5 tickets. (A change in venue this year has allowed us to increase ticket allocation from the 3 we were limited to at the Kroc Center. )
A lottery will be held for a limited number of extra tickets. If you will not need all five tickets, please let us know and we will make them available to other families. Email Tr. Michelle by Friday, May 26th to be included in the lottery or to release unneeded tickets.
The students voted against a color scheme for graduation attire. They may dress as they like, but we stress comfort and safety.
We have found that these large venues are often quite cool and students might be uncomfortable in sleeveless or short sleeve options. Students will need to climb a few stairs to the stage to receive their certificate so we discourage high heels or shoes with slick bottoms.
June 6th is rehearsal day for graduation. 8th grade students may dress down and enjoy a delayed arrival to school that day.
The schedule for June 6th is below:
- Students arrive by 9:30 (Students may dress down)
- 9:30 – Advisory
- 10:00 – Walk to Gershman Y
- 10:15 – Rehearsal at Y
- 11:30 – Leave the Y and return to ICS
- 11:45 – Students will watch the graduation video, sign yearbooks and watch a movie
- 1:00 – Luncheon in the school yard
- 2:45 – Dismissal
Graduation day is June 7th, and 8th grade students do NOT have school that day.
All students MUST report to the Gershman Y, 401 S Broad St. by 3:30pm.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00, and the students will need to get into line order for the ceremony to begin. Experience has taught us that this can be a challenge when nerves and excitement fill the air. Please be on time.
Lastly, if you have not paid your student’s dues, please do so ASAP! ICS has already made the payments for each student’s class of 2017 t-shirt, their yearbook, the Outward Bound trip, the college and career trip, the 8th grade dance, Island Beach trip, graduation supplies and venue, the luncheon, Hershey park and several smaller events. We need to collect all dues in order continue making these events possible for our students.
Thank you for all of your support through the years! We look forward to celebrating your wonderful children, our ICS global citizens.
