Take the District-Wide Parent/Guardian Survey

20% of ICS parents have taken the survey–we’re halfway to our goal! Take the survey now. A high participation rate from our parents provides valuable feedback to ICS and to the District, and gives us bragging rights about our parent participation! If you need your child’s ID#, just reply to this email and I’ll send it to you right away. Take the survey now–and remember to do it one time for each child you have at ICS! (In other words, if you have three ICS kids, take it three separate times.)

Get yourself ready for next school year

Are you moving? Leaving ICS? Do you need health forms? Do you have a 5th grader who will need red polo shirts with logos? We’ve got your resources here!

Hooray for our Green Schools grant!

We were thrilled to host Recyclebank and Streets Department representatives at ICS yesterday for the presentation of the Green Schools grants! Congratulations to Tr. Anne Z. and her bag-bankers on their hard work and commitment to a better world–and thank you to the ICS families who made it possible!

Social Activists on Twitter

The middle school Communications elective has created women’s rights campaigns this trimester! Look for their tweets on the ICS Twitter account starting today and continuing daily through next week. Please show them some love and spread their messages by liking and retweeting!

Community Resources

The Henry School, whose 8th grade students and teachers were in a terrible bus accident last week, has a GoFundMe page here if you’d like to help them!

Cryptography Workshop: The Department of Mathematics at Temple University invites you and your children to join a Cryptography for Kids Workshop on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 in the SERC Lobby at 10:45 am. If you plan to attend please register here.

Cryptography is the science of making and breaking secret codes and it’s used in virtually every aspect of our computer-based world. Cryptography is also fun and the skills used to code and decode messages help kids grasp key mathematical concepts. In a fast-paced, interactive setting, kids will sharpen their problem-solving skills as they solve complex puzzles with the help of Department of Mathematics faculty and students. Recommended for ages 8 to 14 years.

The event is free of charge. Children will have to be accompanied by a guardian adult at the hour-long event.
