Update from your ICS Board Parent Representatives
ICS Parent Representative Summary: Special Board Meeting, April 25, 2018
Note: for approved full board meeting minutes, please refer to the Board of Trustees page on the ICS website
A special board meeting occurred via conference call on April 25, 2018.
The meeting came to order at noon to approve condensing a 10-page employment contract for teachers into a one-page offer letter (at the request of the ICS leadership team).
Teachers offered employment are still asked to agree to the same rules and terms in the ICS employment handbook. For simplicity, the single page letter refers them to the handbook for policy details instead of itemizing them all in the former 10-page contract.
Annual “Right to Know” Notice
Our school receives federal funds for programs that are part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). You have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) or paraprofessional(s). A paraprofessional provides academic or other support for students under the direct supervision of a teacher. You can find more information here.
Do you use SpanishDict.com for your at-home Spanish translation & dictionary needs? It’s a really helpful (and usually quite accurate) website, and they also have an app!
Share your thoughts with Philly’s new school board: Beginning this week, the new Philadelphia Board of Education will participate in a series of community listening sessions across the city. Students, parents, educators and residents are invited to attend one of these upcoming events and share their views on the challenges and opportunities facing public education in Philadelphia. For meeting locations and dates, and to RSVP visit their site.
