ICS News – 5/13

Hello ICS families,

There is less than 1 month of school left and that means it’s time for aaaallllllll the end of year events! Be sure to check the ICS Google calendar regularly so you can keep track of end of year trips and celebrations for your child’s grade. (Pro tip: Take the time to check your child’s homework folder or binder EVERY NIGHT!)

May is also Asian Pacific American Heritage month at ICS. Ask your student what they’ve learned so far!

In case you missed it:

Thanks to the participation of 169 very awesome ICS families, we have reached 20.6% participation in the District Survey.

You could win a $25 gift certificate for participating–an ICS parent was a winner last week!

Take the survey now and help us reach our goal of 50%!

You need your children’s student ID numbers to get started. I can email them to you if needed, just hit reply and ask.

It’s Signature Trip time!

Last week our 5th graders spent 2 nights and 3 days doing team-building challenges and ropes courses at Camp Onas, and our 7th graders expanded their global perspective at the Heifer Global Village in Maryland. Today our 8th graders traveled to the Barnegat Bay EcoCenter, and our 6th graders will be enjoying their canoe adventure later this week and next! We love our middle school learning trips!

Making a gift through Donors Choose is an especially great way for an extended family member to support ICS from afar!

M. Luis’s 3rd graders got scientific on Earth Day, studying some of their seedlings under the microscope before planting them in the play yard garden beds!

Community Resources

This ScreenAgers blog post has some great tips about the importance of sleep–and of making bedrooms and nighttime routines screen-free so that children can get the rest their brains need to grow and be healthy.
