Hello ICS families,

Thank you for all your support in making the start of our 2019-2020 school year a wonderful one. Students and teachers wasted no time diving into their learning and community-building routines, and it was a joy to see!

Our PTA is hosting the annual Scholastic Book Fair this week! There are many ways to shop:

*Please note: PA tax will be charged this year. Books will cost a little bit more than cover price due to tax.

The PTA is still seeking volunteers to staff the fair. Working at the fair is a GREAT way to meet fellow parents, teachers, and very cool ICS children of all ages!

Any questions, please email pta@icscharter.com.

In case you missed it:

Attendance:

  • We recommend arriving to school every day by 8:15. Teachers pick students up from arrival rooms at 8:20. Students are marked late after 8:25.

  • The front door opens at 7:45, and students are NEVER to be left unattended outside of school. There is NO adult supervision before 7:45.

  • Excusing absences: When your child will be absent due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances, always send an email to attendance@icscharter.com so that the absence can be excused. If your child will arrive late from a morning doctor’s appointment, remember to bring a note from the doctor’s office. Under PA law, a child is considered truant if they have 3 or more unexcused absences in one school year.

  • Early dismissals: If you need to schedule an early dismissal for your child due to an unavoidable medical appointment, always email your request to attendance@icscharter.com on the morning of that day. We cannot schedule early dismissals after 3:00pm. Early dismissals should be very rare (i.e. no more than 1-2 times per school year), as they are disruptive to your child’s learning and the learning of their classmates.

  • For more information about attendance policies, please see the Family & Student Handbook. Always direct all attendance questions or concerns to attendance@icscharter.com.
