Hi ICS families,

Our thoughts are with everyone as we all navigate this challenging time for our city and our country. We hope that you are all safe and well in these last days of this unforgettable school year, and we wish you and your students the best as you prepare for the summer. We cannot wait to see everyone next year in the new school building!

School Updates:

If you were not able to join us for CEO Tanya and Pr. Kristen’s presentation to the community on May 14, you can find a link to the presentation here. Minutes from the meeting are included here. One final schoolwide presentation by CEO Tanya and Pr. Kristen will be held on Thursday, June 11 at 5pmYou will have the chance to hear their updates, and have the option to send questions in advance at this link, or use the chat function to send your questions during the webinar.

Staying Connected during the Summer:

Do you want your students to stay connected with their friends during the summer? Would you like to reach out to other parents in your child’s grade level? Think about organizing a virtual (or real if conditions allow!) get together for your class or grade over the summer. You should have received your student’s class directory from Tr. Natalie N. If you don’t have one, please email natalien@icscharter.com to access parent emails for your child’s grade!

ICS COVID Relief Fund:

Earlier this Spring, ICS PTA members approved $10,000 from  the PTA budget to be distributed to ICS families in need. This is money that could have been, but was not, spent this term on field trips and other class activities. Several friends of the school have contributed an additional $350 to this fund to support ICS families. We have spent to date almost $8,500 to purchase grocery gift cards for ICS families who are struggling during COVID, and we expect the full allocated amount to be used in coming weeks. Cr. Anne and Cr. Miriam have been the primary connection point for identifying and distributing these funds. If you want to donate specifically to this ICS family support fund, you can do so HERE.

Help Needed:

The PTA needs your help! In order to keep our organization strong, we need someone who will step up to be our Treasurer. This position allows you to meet regularly with school leadership, and to have a say in how the PTA earns/spends about $30-$50K a year toward the school! Responsibilities of the position are listed here. It is a 2 year term and requires a commitment of about 5 hours per month on average. Please email pta@icscharter.com if interested or with any questions.

We hope that you stay well through the Summer, and we can’t wait to see you all in the Fall!

Best,

Your PTA Officers
