ICS enrolls students through an annual lottery process. Any student living in Philadelphia and entering grades kindergarten through 8th is eligible to apply to the lottery. For a student to be eligible to attend kindergarten in 2018-19, they must turn 5 by September 1, 2018.
All applications received by the lottery application deadline each year are entered into a drawing. Available spaces at the school are then filled in the order that the names are drawn in the lottery. In kindergarten we typically accept 92 students each year. In grades 1st-8th we only have spaces available if students leave our school. In an average year we are able to accept about 15 total new students in 1st-8th grades (approximately 2 students per grade).
Siblings of current ICS students receive preference in the lottery process.
The submission deadline is Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 2pm.
The lottery drawing will take place on Thursday, March 15 at 5pm and will be open to the public. It is not necessary to attend.
Complete lottery results will be posted in our front foyer at 1600 Lombard St. by Monday, March 19 and will be emailed to all applicants.
Our waiting list does not carry over from year to year. You must submit a new application each year to be entered into that year’s lottery.
For complete information about our lottery process, visit our 2018-2019 Lottery Process page.
Lottery applications are also available in Spanish, Indonesian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and French in the ICS main office.
