ICS enrolls students through an annual lottery process. Any student living in Philadelphia and entering grades kindergarten through 8th is eligible to apply to the lottery.
All applications received by the lottery application deadline each year are entered into a drawing. Available spaces at the school are then filled in the order that the names are drawn in the lottery. In kindergarten we typically accept 92 students each year. In grades 1st-8th we only have spaces available if students leave our school. In an average year we are able to accept about 15 total new students in 1st-8th grades.
Siblings of current ICS students receive preference in the lottery process.
The deadline to apply for the 2017-2018 student lottery has passed.
The submission deadline was Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2pm. (It was extended 24 hours past original deadline of 2/9 at 2pm due to weather-related school closing.)
The lottery drawing took place on Thursday, February 23 and was open to the public.
Complete lottery results are posted in our front foyer at 1600 Lombard St. and have been emailed to all applicants. If you have not received your results, you can call 215-238-8000, x2500 to inquire.
Our waiting list does not carry over from year to year. You must submit a new application each year to be entered into that year’s lottery.
Lottery applications for 2018-2019 will be available starting January 1, 2018. (Note: This is an updated date and is later than our usual release date of November 1.)
