JOIN THE PTA
Membership in the PTA not only gets you discounted tickets and perks for our own PTA-run events, like Fall Fest and the Spring Auction Party, but being a PTA Member has broader advantages through the National PTA, like discounts on car rentals, life and home insurance, even shopping at Walmart. We’re also working on creating some additional benefits through local businesses right here in Philadelphia!
NATIONAL PTA
PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. PTA is comprised of millions of parents, teachers, grandparents, caregivers, foster parents and other caring adults who share a commitment to improving the education, health and safety of all children. We speak with one voice for every child.

Chris Spahr | PTA President
I am the father of 6th grader, Yahara Spahr, and live in Powelton Village with my wife (Nayeli), and daughters (Yahara and Zyani. When not playing music or having dance parties with my family, I work as the Executive Director of Drexel University’s Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships. I hold a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and find meaning in addressing urban challenges that impact our public health and wellness particularly in low-resource communities. As the President of the PTA, I hope to support the amazing work of the teachers and staff and continue the work of community building among parents, staff, teachers, and students so that ICS continues its great reputation of being a wonderful place for diverse sets of children and families.
Tiye Thompson | PTA Vice President
I’m the Mommie of a 4th Grader “Jettie” and have been involved with our PTA as a Class Caregiver since 2021. After obtaining the position of 2024 PTA Secretary, BOT’s Parent Representative and Spring EXTRA FUN Planning Chair, I am no longer considered a “rookie” however, I have the same compassion and drive to progress ICS, since our first day of Kindergarten.
With over thirty years of combined experience campaigning for City, State and Federal Officials, community and non-profit fundraising and as a former Educator of 6th through 8th Graders, “lending my voice” for Scholars of all ages and economic/social backgrounds is my love language. As an avid learner, I value your time, trust your insight and welcome your feedback on improving communications towards becoming an even stronger leader.
I look forward to glowing alongside you and connecting with you soon…FIRED UP!
Kate Gilbert | PTA Treasurer
Priscilla Caba| PTA Secretary
I’m the proud mom of a 1st grader, Gabrielle Primrose, and I live in Center City with my husband, Gabe, our 3-year-old son, Psalm, and our two dogs, Wubb and Soph. I’m a stay-at-home mom and the owner of HerCrew Co., an event business that plans, designs, and styles a variety of events and parties. When I’m not decorating or planning events, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and attending church with my family.
I’m very excited and eager to begin the 2025–2026 school year as the PTA Secretary and to work alongside the amazing parents, teachers, and staff at ICS!
