ICS welcomes community members as volunteers. Our volunteer projects range from just a few hours to weekly commitments. You can volunteer in the classroom, for fundraising and family events, on Board of Trustees committees, and with the PTA—to name only a few opportunities!
One especially rewarding volunteer role for K-3 parents is to be a Room Parent. Check in with your child’s teacher if you think the role might be right for you!
In compliance with state law for volunteers working directly with children, all ICS volunteers must obtain and submit the following items. In compliance with ICS policy, each item must be dated no earlier than one year before the date on which volunteer work begins.
Clearances must be renewed every five years. Our volunteer coordinator will alert you when your clearances are due to be renewed.
- PA Criminal History Check: Visit http://epatch.state.pa.us and click New Record Check (Volunteers only). There is no cost for volunteers. You will be able to view and print your certificate online immediately in most cases, or within 2-3 weeks in some cases. If your check indicates that there is a criminal record, you will need to submit the full report that is mailed to you before you can begin volunteering.
- PA Child Abuse Clearance: Visit www.compass.state.pa.us/CWIS. You’ll need to create an account and then log back in in order to submit your application. There is no cost for volunteers. You will be able to view and print your results online within 2-3 days in most cases, or within 2-3 weeks in some cases.
- Disclosure Statement for Volunteers: If you have lived in Pennsylvania for at least 10 years*, sign and submit this affidavit.
*If you have not lived in PA for at least 10 years, you will need to complete a fingerprint check from the PA Dept. of Ed. (call 215-238-8000, x2500 for more information and instructions) and sign and submit this Arrest/Conviction Report.
